Energize your summer!
 Students get to put themselves in the shoes (and gear) of an electric lineman at the annual Touchstone Energy Camp.
Sixth graders sought for Touchstone Energy camp
Sixth graders can jump start their summer this coming June by signing up for high-voltage fun at the Indiana Touchstone Energy® Camp.
The sixth Touchstone Energy Camp will blend traditional camp activities — like archery, arts and crafts, and canoeing — with educational sessions about electrification, electrical safety and cooperative business principles and the environment.
The three-and-a-half-day long camp, June 4-7, 2008, will be held at Camp Tecumseh YMCA Outdoor Center near Brookston. The center, located on Richard G. Marsh Lake, offers a range of recreational activities including rock-climbing, riflery, swimming and canoeing. It also includes team building exercises that challenge students and enhance communication skills.
The camp will have room for about 120 students. Any current Indiana sixth grader is eligible to apply for a camp sponsorship. The sponsorship will cover all costs for the camp. (Campers may be responsible for transportation to and from Camp Tecumseh). Applications will be taken early next year by participating co-ops around the state. Selections are expected to be made by spring.
The camp is sponsored by: Indiana Statewide Association of Rural Electric Co-operatives, the service association of Indiana’s REMCs and RECs; participating Indiana Touchstone Energy cooperatives; and Indiana’s two cooperative power suppliers, Hoosier Energy REC and Wabash Valley Power Association.
