Questions

How does Higher or Lower work?

You see one state's average home electricity price. A second state is hidden: say whether its price is higher or lower. Ten rounds; the second state becomes the next reference. Pairs closer than 0.4 cents never appear.

How is the monthly bill game scored?

You get a state and a use in kWh. The answer is the 2025 state average price times the kWh. Each round is worth 100 points minus 2 points per percent you are off, so 5 rounds give up to 500.

What are the clues in Which state is it?

Clue 1 is the average home price, clue 2 the biggest source of in-state generation, clue 3 the minutes a typical customer went without power in 2024. A correct guess on the first clue earns 3 points, the second 2, the third 1.

Is the bill the real bill I would get?

No. It is price times kWh, energy only, with no fixed fees, taxes or riders, and in states with retail choice a plan can differ from the state average.

Can friends play the same questions?

Yes. The link stores a seed number after the # sign, so everyone gets the same order of states. Share the link or the score card.

Where do the facts come from?

Prices and use come from EIA retail sales, the generation mix from EIA, outage minutes from EIA-861 reliability data. States without outage data are left out of the clue game.

Is my score saved anywhere?

No. Nothing is stored or sent. Press Download PNG to keep the result card.
